No Hard Selling – That’s A Promise!

When people chat about spas & beauty salons in general, the conversation will inevitably turn to hard selling. Hard selling is so prevalent in the Singapore beauty industry, that many refuse to finish their packages because of the stress they undergo everytime they turn up for a session. And I have heard of some poor folks who are so incapable of saying no that they have been corced into buying more treatments than they can possibly consume in one lifetime.
The other grouse is that the Sales Consultant, once the sale is made, will not be seen again, unless it is time to push for more sales. They have no idea how their client has responded to the treatments suggested by them.
Which brings me to a little story about my interview with a young lady who was keen on being a Sales Consultant at Divine MedSpa. Once we got past the usual “what’s in it for me” nonsense, and it was blatantly clear she was not going to be part of our team, I couldn’t resist finding out more about how the average Spa Sales Consultant worked. So I asked her how she recommended the correct treatments. She started off by saying customisation, depends on need, etc. Then when I pushed her harder, she admitted that it was all down to their perceived spending power. She really had no interest in finding the right treatment for the client at all, just getting the client to part with the largest sum of cash possible!
After that, I just could not bring myself to interview anyone else for that position. I’ve always felt it best that the Consultant should be the one doing the treatments and have a real understanding of whether the treatment suggested is the right one. I’d rather not earn than make someone waste money on a treatment that really doesn’t work, even if they come in asking for it. Like Endermologie for slimming for example. That might appear cheap, but really is a waste of time and money for slimming (although can help with cellulite and skin tone).
So the Therapists at Divine MedSpa are the Consultants. They will advise and do the treatments. Each has their own strengths, for sure, so our aim is to match the right Therapist to the client from day one. If there is a need to switch to another service, we will ensure the right Therapist is called in.
And no hard selling, no enforced packages. We have special offers, but not ridiculously cheap draws to force people in and lock them up till the credit card is handed over. Any Therapist that does that at Divine MedSpa will be sacked on the spot!
And packages? Yes, they do exist, especially for slimming & rejuvenation programs which need intensive treatments. But facials, massages, mind-body classes, nail services, etc are all available as single session purchases, with packages as an option for affordability if desired. And most certainly the client decides at the end of the session whether he/she prefers freedom or cost reduction.
First Meridian Meditation Class at Divine MedSpa

Our series of free classes was launched last night with the first Meridian Meditation class.
I have been to a few private meditation classes before, but this was a totally different expeience. Using Jin Shin Jyutsu principles, our instructor Colin first taught us how to perform the 8 poses. Done correctly, these will clear various meridian blockages. Used alone, they are effective health adjuncts. Add in the focus/intention component of meditation, and the potency becomes maximised.
The first half of the session was therefore more explanation and teaching oriented. The second half was conducted in silence, so we could focus (and meditate) on each pose. Energy flow could be felt by some. This apparently becomes easier with practice too. A subtle finger click indicated it was time to move onto the next pose.
For people wary of meditation because of uncomfortable positions, strange chantings or out of body experiences, Meridian Meditation should not be a concern. Participants sit on the floor in whatever leg position is most comfortable. There is no chanting and most certainly no weird out of body experiences. The session is purely a series of hand positions desiged to enhance energy flow through the meridians, thereby improving health & wellness.
